Thank you Craft Central Gets Hitched 2013

Last week was the start of Craft Central's Gets Hitched handmade wedding fair 2013 & my first opportunity to showcase my new collection of 'Bespoke handcrafted paper cut works' at my first ever fair, and a beautiful wedding fair at that!

Despite the rather miserable weather, (snow in late march!) the whole experience was such a positive & inspiring one for me.
As a VERY nervous person and having not done a fair before AND showcasing a brand new and unseen collection of works, I was indeed very nervous. However, after settling in, putting some calming flowers on my display and meeting the really lovely ladies in the gallery space, I was filled with joy.

It was such an honor to be in such a wonderful space within the new gallery of Craft Central, I had a large window display too, but also to be in there with a collection of such talented & lovely designer-makers.

It was really great to meet customers, photographers, bloggers, wedding planners and excited brides & grooms to be, and to get general feedback on my new products, which were all really encouraging & positive. So I can happily crack on & keep pushing my new works with a bit of confidence!

For me, it was wonderful to experience the show, work out how to set it all up, display my work and the whole process of a fair. I wasn't expecting to sell anything, but I did! Quite a few greetings cards, which is always nice & some paper leaves garlands and NEW bespoke papercut wreaths!

It was a big rush to get my collection and works finished off for the show, so photographs and information will be up on my website and shop very very soon! However do contact me with any questions on products, commissions and orders.

There are also more photographs of the show on Craft Central's Blog HERE

Thank you Craft Central team for being lovely & supportive and Thank you to the lovely ladies in the gallery space & the lovely customers.

I have been a little quiet on the promotion of design & products lately, working on some new things for the up and coming Craft Central 'Get's Hitched Handmade Wedding Fair' this March 21st - 24th. So for now, here a some little snippets of things to (hopefully) come. Happy Friday!

Thankyou lovely Ladybird Likes

I am a 24 year old freelance designer from London. I've pretty much always had a job since my early teenage years, be it babysitting, painting & decorating, bar work or shop work. Since working toward my chosen path in life (design), I have had a good few years of some amazing work experiences, internships & jobs, with some wonderful designers & companies. I've met so many genuinely lovely & inspiring people.
But in our economic climate, bla bla bla, as we all know it's almost impossible to find jobs, especially jobs you really want & love. After a LOT of unpaid work, a long time looking & a long time worrying, I finally have me a job! YES! And a blooming lovely one at that!
I am a studio assistant for the lovely Zoe of LadyBird Likes!

I  felt a huge weight off my shoulder's when she told me I had the job & now I have had my first week & I have started to feel so much happier & lighter.
I'm so happy to be helping out in her studio, surrounded by her beautiful belongings & with her lovely dog Jasper. So far I have been organising and making jewellery, packing order's & I'm excited for the next task that comes along, just enjoying it, taking it all in & learning new things.
It's also really lovely to have little chit chats through out the day, discussing design/business issues, product ideas & have a biscuit and sing song to the radio. Oh & have tea out of so many different pretty mugs!

Check out the Ladybird Likes SHOP of cute & beautiful pieces, I've already bought a few!

Thank you Zoe for employing me & I'm excited to work for you!

Mother's Day 2013

All images COPYRIGHT Freya Lines

We're not too big on cheesy & commercial occasions in my family, but I still always get my mother a bunch of flowers for Mother's Day. This year I also made some pencil & water colour illustrations, collaged together. One, for a card and one decorating a lovely quote that reminded me of her, her garden & this time of year when we are waiting for the joy of spring & the garden to bloom and grow.

'If you look the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden' by Frances Hodgson Burnett, from The Secret Garden.
